Born to Die

Comments on Galatians with an ear to Luther’s commentary

Scripture Text: Galatians 3:1 and 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

Series: Comments on Galatians

Today's Scripture Jigsaw

Jesus of Nazareth is plainly portrayed to the world and yet, seen by so many as simply a great teacher, or a peace advocate, or a political revolutionary, or one who never existed. Until he is seen as crucified, he is simply Jesus of Nazareth and not Jesus, the Savior of the world. Jesus was not born to fix governments, usher in peace, or enlighten us with a new philosophy. He was born to die. His mission was to die for the sin debt of all people so that they could eternally exist with their creator. Because we never could restore ourselves to this blessed relationship, God did it for us. When we add politics, morality, or religious philosophies to the cross of Christ, we are saying that Jesus is inadequate to the task of salvation.
