Those who are doers of the law are those who have received Christ and his word implanted in their lives. These are real and true believers. They believe in the one the Father has sent (John 6:29): in the name of of his Son Jesus Christ; and they love one another (1 John 3:23). This is the great commandment (Matthew 22:37–40) and true believers keep the commandments (John 14:15; 1 John 5:2–3).

But here, our conscience would condemn us. For we know that we do the law imperfectly. But do we keep at it? Do we keep keeping the commandment, loving God and neighbor however imperfectly? The Holy Spirit gives believers the faith to overcome (1 John 5:4–5), to keep after the commandment despite their imperfections. They overcome the world through this faith in Christ, not putting any stock in their deeds but only being thankful that the Spirit enables them to keep loving God and neighbor, persevering (James 1:25) in the knowledge that it is God who blesses, producing a harvest of salvation from the implanted word of Christ.
