Open Your Gifts
Comments on Galatians with an ear to Luther’s commentary
Scripture Text: Galatians 3:5 and 1 Corinthians 12:4–11
Series: Comments on Galatians
After you have heard the gospel and believed, God expects something to happen to your neighbor’s life. God expects there to be some good works in your life — not to be saved or to remain saved, but to produce some good for your neighbor. Luther said that God does not need your good works but your neighbor does. In case you are the sort who thinks you are no earthly good to anyone because you do not have anything to give, you are not off the hook. God has put his Spirit in you and given you gifts. Open them; use them for your neighbor. And give God the glory.
