Proclaiming Truth

Comments on Galatians with an ear to Luther’s commentary

Scripture Text: Galatians 3:6 and 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

Series: Comments on Galatians

Today's Scripture Jigsaw

Today, our latest First Communion Class will go to the altar rail, practice kneeling, bowing their heads, holding their hands to receive and taste the bread and wine. No sense screwing up their faces at the taste of wine at their first Communion. Get it over with now. No sense having the bread stick to the roof of their mouths then; teach them how to receive it now when they are not actually communing.

These elements, when his words are read, and his life, death, resurrection, and ascension remembered with faith, are his body and blood, given for us for the forgiveness of sins.

The reason of the world shouts that all this is preposterous. But faith proclaims that “this is most certainly true.”
