Stubborn Religion
Comments on Galatians with an ear to Luther’s commentary
Scripture Text: Galatians 3:10 and Romans 10:1–4
Series: Comments on Galatians
Some people disdain religion because of certain atrocities committed in the name of God or religion. There is greater reason for us to hold religion in contempt. People use religion to establish their own righteousness, to be their own justification with God, and therefore, be their own savior. This is the biggest problem with religion: it keeps us from the righteousness of God. For God’s righteousness is imputed to us, not thorough religious deeds but by God’s grace, a free gift to those who believe in Jesus.
