It’s So Simple

Today's Scripture Jigsaw

An old friend of mine used to say, “It’s so simple.” But it did not seem simple to me because I did not understand. I kept thinking there was something that I had to do. Indeed, there are things that I should do to act righteous but there is nothing that I have to do in order to be righteous. To put it more paradoxically, I may not act righteously, even though I am righteous. For example, people do not act like Americans sometimes. Yet they are Americans. Just so, I may not always act like a Christian, but I am in Christ nevertheless. I sin every day but because being in Christ, I am dead to sin, just so, sin is dead to me. How is it that I am dead to sin? Because I am crucified with Christ, sin in me is also crucified. We often need to remind ourselves that it is just that simple.
