The Fulfillment

Scripture Text: Galatians 2:17 and John 14:25-27

Series: Comments on Galatians

Today's Scripture Jigsaw

Jesus has not come to enforce the law but to fulfill it. The result would be peace in the heart and mind, and a quiet conscience. But when one tries to turn the Fulfillment of the Law (Matthew 5:17) into a Lawman, he has made Jesus into something he is not. The result is a conscience terrified of God, bereft of peace, troubled at the thought of eternity and judgment. But if the law is simply the law, then it serves as signs along the way that indicate God’s will. Then God is he who loved the world so much that he sent his Son, not to condemn it, but to save it to himself (John 3:16–18).
