Sermon: The Inside-Out
The focus of our service today is Holy Communion. As you wait for the service to begin, consider watching this 5-minute devotion about the Lord's Supper, written by Martin Luther. Kristie Ward, from Naomi's Heart Mission in the Philippines, brings our children's message today. We will also remember those who have died among us in the last year, whom Christ has made saints by his death and resurrection. During announcements, we will also recognize our veterans.
Order of Worship
Prayers of the Church
Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
Living God, we praise you for sealing those with faith in you, fitting them for your kingdom. You robe us in purest garments so that we may stand before your throne, and before the Lamb. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Maker of us all, empower us, inspire us, and grant us good courage to engage the world, the devil, and our own flesh with the two-edged sword of your Word. Help us to practice with it every day, and use it as you give opportunity. Grant us victory through Christ Jesus. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Loving Father, what wondrous love this is, that caused you to send your only Son into this world. What a great love you have for us that you would make us your children—Jesus’ sisters and brothers. Though, in this flesh, we have sin and weakness, we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. Yet, even on this side of glory, you grant that we may grow in grace and be healed of sickness and infirmities of all kinds. With this hope and knowledge, we pray for those whom we name before you now… Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
God of the poor in spirit, help us to hunger and thirst for the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Lord of the meek, make us salty witnesses of the gospel, that our families and neighbors may come to know and love you, even as they are loved and known you. Bless the work of Naomi’s Heart Mission, that they may reach the hungry, the hurting, and the lost sheep of the Philippines. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy—through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
We invite you to join us for an in-person service. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions—all in a friendly, family-like environment. Our worship services are traditional and liturgical. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays, as well as other festival Sundays.
You may notice in today's service that we welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon Pastor Ryman has a chat with the children. You're going to love this part of the service.
Our services are mask-optional.
