The Second Sunday after Christmas
Order of Worship
Prayer of the Church
Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
We thank you, Father, for your great lovingkindness toward us. This is no dream; you have given us wisdom to know good from evil, understanding hearts that know we are powerless to be good and righteous by our own virtue, and the faith to believe in your King Christ, seated at your right hand. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Blessed are those who hunger for your Word, O God, those who meditate in it day and night. Help us to keep your commandments and your teachings, so that we may be wise in this life, knowing the sweetness of your promises. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Blessed are you, God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. You have chosen us, adopted, us, and redeemed us, forgiving us by the richness of your grace, all according the mystery of your will. Relying upon that same will of blessing and grace, we pray for all those we love, whom we name before you now in our hearts and upon our lips… Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We might have gone to a sporting event today, Lord God, or to some other activity, or even stayed at home. Yet where else would we be but, as it were, in your house instead of our own? We have to be in your house, Father, not only honoring the Lord’s Day but the Communion of Saints, the grace of your Table, and hearing your gracious Word. Where else indeed, for all week we long to be together here? So, we dare to ask after all those whom we miss in your congregation. Bring them home by your grace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy—through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
We invite you to join us for an in-person service. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions—all in a friendly, family-like environment. Our worship services are traditional and liturgical. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays, as well as other festival Sundays.
Please notice that we welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon Pastor Ryman has a chat with the children. You're going to love this part of the service.
Our services are mask-optional.
