Scripture Texts: Acts 5:12–32; Psalm 148:1–14; Revelation 1:4–18; John 20:19–31;
Sermon: Guest Preacher, Rev. Julie Smith
Today's service of worship features a dedication of hymnals, "Hallelujah For the Cross," an anthem by our Men's Choir, the reading and proclamation of the Word of God by our guest preacher, Rev. Julie Smith, and Holy Communion.
The prelude, "Christ is Risen, Alleluia!" speaks of the faithful raising the strain to sing joyously, “He is Risen!” Until then, enjoy this Online Jigsaw Puzzle.
Second Sunday of Easter
Order of Worship
Prayers of the Church
Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
O Lord, as you once performed signs and wonders through your apostles, help us to have a proper reverence for the mysterious ways you work today, stretching forth your Word and will to heal our various ailments. We ask this even now for those who suffer in any way, especially those whom we name before you now, in our hearts or on our lips... Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We praise you, Lord, for the seasons, even if it does seem like we sometimes experience three of them in a single week. But as the seasons come and go with the years, your creating Word endures, commanding the seasons and all creation to continue according to your decrees. You have made us too, to enjoy your company and to lift up your praises. Move us to lift up praise for your Son, a horn of salvation for your saints. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Alpha and Omega, you who are, and who was, and who is to come, give us such faith that we may always turn to your voice, that you may effectively rule in your church through your Word until that great Day. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Lord Jesus, thank you for coming into our midst as we gather to worship this morning. Fill us with the certain knowledge of your will for us, that you have called us to take the promise of forgiveness into the world, and with it, your peace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy—through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
We invite you to join us for an in-person service. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions—all in a friendly, family-like environment. Our worship services are traditional and liturgical. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays, as well as festival Sundays.
Please notice that we welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon Pastor Ryman has a chat with the children. You're going to love this part of the service.
