Ascension Sunday
Order of Worship
Prayers of the Church
Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
Father, increase our faith in all your Son has accomplished for us, his manifold victories in the past and in our present, so that by the ministry of your Spirit we may remember your great love for us all the days of our lives. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Soon after your triumph over the grave, you completed your conquest of sin, death, and hell by ascending with a shout to your Father’s right hand, rising on high with the victorious voice of a trumpet. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We are grateful to you, Holy Spirit, for the faith that exists among us here at St. Paul’s. We thank you for the blessed dead, and this weekend, those especially who have given their lives in service of these United States of America. We are thankful also for our graduates, Lauren Whisnant, Henry Barringer, Chloe Lombard, and Sam Pepper. Enlarge their faith in you so that they may be a blessing to their neighbors, and bring you glory and honor. And be with those who may struggle to be thankful because of their sufferings. Give your hope of salvation, and your continuing presence and peace to those who suffer in any way, particularly those of the house of God, and even those whom we name before you now in our hearts and upon our lips… Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Give us pause throughout our days to open your Book, and give us a portion of your Spirit that we may have opened, perceptive minds that understand the Scriptures. And like Jesus, may we always ask, “What is written?”, that we may be kept in faith until that great Day when we too are carried up into your presence. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy—through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
We invite you to join us for an in-person service. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions—all in a friendly, family-like environment. Our worship services are traditional and liturgical. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays, as well as festival Sundays.
Please notice that we welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon Pastor Ryman has a chat with the children. You're going to love this part of the service.
Our services are mask-optional.
