Prayers of the Church
Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
Lord God, in a world where misleading signals are broadcast by the media, the government, and even churches, help us to not trust in truth that is spun out for the advantage of parties and agendas. Help us to give our allegiance to you, to obey you rather than men when they would have us disobey your commandments. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
What are we humans, Father, that you are mindful of us? When we look out at the sun and the moon and the evening stars, we are in awe that you not only care for us, but have created us but a little less than heavenly beings. Give us such wisdom that we are thankful to you all our days. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We are disappointed, Lord, with Pastor Mark and Julia Wilhelm, that their part in the Baltic States mission is coming to a close. We are grateful for their work in Latvia, and ask your blessings upon it. Now, we ask for their safe return to the US, for successful surgery and healing for Mark, and for success in their team’s ongoing mission to Estonia. By your foreordained design, Lord God, you determined that you too would suffer, even death on a cross, so that we may be justly forgiven. As your own Son suffered on this earth, we know that our lot too, in time, is to suffer, then die. So, we ask that for those who suffer today, you would give to them the hope of salvation, and the peace of Jesus, asking this especially for these whom we name before you now, both silently and by speaking their names aloud… Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
There are so many who still throw stones at you, Jesus. Grant to those among our own families and neighbors, doubters and atheists alike, even the worst of them, true repentance, that they may be at rest and at last, on that great Day, rejoice to see you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy—through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
