Sermon: He Has Decided
Today's service features Holy Communion, the baptism of Sawyer Kate Holland, a solo by Vance Goodman, a chat with our children about what is important in life, and a sermon about the First Commandment, the second sermon in a 12-week series on the commandments.

Sixth Sunday after Pentecost
Order of Worship
You may watch the sermon only here. All the sermons in the Ten Commandments series are on that page.
Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
You are the Lord who brought the ancient Israelites out of bondage in the land of Egypt. You are the same Lord who has brought your people out of bondage to sin, death, and the devil. Help us to put no other gods before you, that we might be your people, walking among you erectly as those who are liberated. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
You are our strength, O Lord; there is no one else whom we may depend upon — even ourselves. We know this to be true but we still try to take matters into our own hands. So, empower us with your Spirit, that we may be so bold as to open our mouths widely with the expectation that you will give us our daily bread. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Lord Jesus Christ, you have crushed the head of Satan and are bringing all things to a victorious climax. Yet you have done so by sharing in our flesh and blood, suffering and dying so that death would be destroyed justly. Even so, you help us, children of Abraham through faith in that same Christ Jesus. Help then, those who are suffering among us, especially these whom we name before you even now in our hearts and with our voices… Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
This is the day of salvation, the year of the Lord’s favor, for you, O God, are our deliverer. Help us then, to fix our eyes upon you, by hearing and reading your Word as though we are in the synagogue with you, and that you are the one reading the Scripture to us. Even so, give us the insight and freedom to proclaim this good news to the poor — particularly those who do not know their poverty. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

We invite you to join us for an in-person service. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions — all in a friendly, family-like environment. Our worship services are traditional and liturgical. Holy Communion is celebrated each Sunday.
Please notice that we welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon, Pastor Ryman has a chat with the children. You're going to love this part of the service.
