Fourth Sunday of Advent
Order of Worship
Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
We ask no other signs from you, Lord, than that which you have given. We have come to behold the virgin who bears a Son, who is himself God with us. We come to be given faith through this sign so that we may forever be with the God who is determined to be with us. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Lift up our heads, King Jesus, for we are now your temple. Fling wide the doors of your church so that you may enter in and be among your people. We are the generation who seeks you, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Enter so that we may receive your blessing: righteousness from the God of our salvation. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We thank you, Lord Jesus, for the apostolic witness, for the holy Scripture that tells us of your birth, your death, your resurrection. Through this true Word, you have given us the obedience of faith . We also ask that you would give this same and steadfast faith to all of these whom we name before you now... Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We thank you for the simple, faithful obedience of Mary and Joseph. Give us such faith that we may hear your word and obey. Help us to do as you command, particularly that we believe the ancient sign: “the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel.” Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
We invite you to join us for an in-person service. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions — all in a friendly, family-like environment. Our worship services are traditional and liturgical. Holy Communion is celebrated each Sunday.
Please notice that we welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon, Pastor Ryman has a chat with the children. You're going to love this part of the service.
