Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
Savior, you have delivered your Word in law and gospel: sword and salvation. You have delivered us from the sword of the law because of your covenant, the new testament in your own blood. With the nails of the cross you have engraved us on the palms of your hands. Continue, for your Name’s sake, Lord, to keep us that your salvation may be seen throughout the earth. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Give us, Lord God, a renewed desire to keep your law. Help us to learn and keep your Commandments more and more every day. Yet, guard us from the kind of piety that is proud of itself, that depends upon religion instead of you. Bring us to that place where we delight in your will, when your is done, and you hinder and destroy every evil design and purpose of the devil, the world, and our sinful nature that would keep us from keeping your name holy, and prevent the coming of your kingdom. Strengthens us and keep us steadfast in your Word and in faith to the end of our earthly lives, for this is your good and gracious will. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Sanctifying God, you have enriched this congregation in so many ways. You have gifted each person at St. Paul’s with certain spiritual gifts, that we may work together in the unity of your Holy Spirit until the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ. We ask your blessing upon our new church Council and upon its officers. Strengthen them for the days ahead and give them the assurance that we work together for your glory. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Help us, like your first chosen disciples, to heed the call to follow you. If we have lagged behind or turned off of your path, give us courageous strength to get back in step with you. Overcome our unbelief that we may have your peace. We ask this especially for those suffering in body, mind, or spirit, and particularly these whom we name before you now… Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
