Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
Once, Lord God, we walked in the darkness of captivity to sin and death. But your Light has shone upon us so that we are delivered by your mighty power. You have broken the yoke, so continue to shine on us that we may rejoice in your glory. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Who would we fear besides you, Lord? There is no other. You alone are our confidence, even though the whole world would seem to fall apart. In the midst of any trouble, help us to dwell in you, that we may gaze upon your beauty forever. Help us to be strong and courageous as we wait for you, Lord, and believe that we will look upon your goodness in the land of the living. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We know that we are saved by the power of God in the word of the cross, Lord Jesus. Your death and resurrection are life and salvation for those who believe. Increase our faith, Holy Spirit, and help those who are suffering today and troubled in spirit to believe in your saving work. We ask this particularly for these whom we name before you now… Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
You are always looking for new preachers, Jesus. We ask that you would call people from this congregation to follow you into this vocation. Help us to notice those upon whom you have placed a call, even at a young age, that we may encourage them and support them. Your church is not meant to be without a shepherd or under-shepherds. Give her new pastors that the faith may abound at St. Paul’s and continue throughout our land. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
