Ascension Sunday
Order of Worship
Download today's bulletin PDF for the entire order of worship and more.
Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
We love you, Father, not least because you have revealed yourself to us through your Son. Though the sins of the world sent him to the cross, he rose from the dead. After 40 days, he ascended back to you, a cloud taking him out of sight from the disciples. And we believe, God, that he will one day return in the same way he went to heaven, with power and great glory, that he night bring the living and the dead who believed on him to share in his glory. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Having completed your redemptive work, Lord, you have gone up into heaven with a great shout. There, you are enthroned over the nations of the earth. May you be exalted in all the world, but especially in your church. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Enlighten the insight of our hearts and minds, Holy Spirit that we may know the hope that is within us. Though we are assaulted in this life with temptation and trouble, with sickness and with death, help us to take refuge in the knowledge of the immeasurable greatness of your power toward us who believe. You have given us the hope of everlasting life with you, and your people, and with the hosts of heaven. Be gracious, God, to all those suffering and mourning among us, that they may have confident hope because of Christ Jesus, especially Helen and all these whom we name before you now…
Deliver us from sin and death, so that we may walk with you in the land of the living. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Give us pause to open the Book and spend much time there with you. Open our minds, ascended Lord, that we may come to know you more fully and perfectly, that we may persevere in faith, and be your faithful witnesses, that we will not have squandered the power of your Spirit. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
Though we livestream our services, we invite you to join us for an in-person service if you live in the area or are passing though. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions — all in a friendly, multigenerational environment. Holy Communion is celebrated each Sunday.
Please notice that we welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon, Pastor Ryman has a chat with the children. You're going to love this part of the service.
