Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs. 

We thank you for the promise, Lord, that those who believe and are baptized will not only be forgiven of their sins but will also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Fulfill the commitment of your presence within us by not letting us fall prey to feelings of the Spirit. Help us to depend upon your word to us, that we may depend upon your power in the life of your church. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. 

Continue to teach us your ways, Lord. Lead us in truth so that we may know you, O God of our salvation. Instruct we poor sinners, yet do not remember the sins of our youth. Though these very sins have greatly impacted our lives, we thank you that you do not count them against us — not because we are religious or faithful in our own right but only because Jesus has taken those sins upon the cross, that we might have new life in him. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Rush upon your church today, Holy Spirit. Inspire us all to proclaim your gospel to the nations but touch especially the lives of our new Confirmands, that they might become that radical people who cannot be still about the kingdom. Be with our newly baptized, our first communicant, and our new members, that they too may be your witness of peace and hope in Christ Jesus. And finally, be gracious, God, to all those suffering and mourning among us, particularly those who have lost friends and loved ones in service of our country, that they may have the peace of confident hope of Christ Jesus, in spite of how they feel. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Give us pause to recognize our thirst, and cause us to drink in faith so that rivers of living water who is your Holy Spirit may flow out of the life of this church into Rowan County and the whole world. Bless the offerings of our children and bring many to faith that you may be glorified in our communion. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
