Prayers of the Church:
Remember us in your kingdom, Lord, and visit us even now as we come to your table. We eat in faith: this bread translated by your word. We drink this cup, transformed by your promise. And in eating and drinking through faith in the word of your promise, we too are changed. Your words, “for the forgiveness of sins,” have become to us a joy. May your presence among us become the delight of our hearts. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We love to be in this place together, Holy Spirit—not only together with each other but with you. You are the habitation of our communion. Your glory dwells among the redeemed. Give us overflowing spirits, so that we are thankful and cannot help but announce your great acts among us. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Give us the passionate heart of your Servant, Father. Make us a patient and hopeful people of prayer. And in our requests, may we be mindful of those who suffer among us. Call to our minds those in our bulletin and Epistle prayer lists, that we would bring them before you. Even so, Lord, touch those who suffer and mourn among us, stirring them with your love and giving them your peace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Thank you, Jesus, for being willing to become incarnate, and to suffer and die for us sinners, that we may be forgiven for your sake. Give us the desire, the will, and the strength to pick up our own crosses and follow you in these lives and into life eternal. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
