Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
We thank you, Lord Jesus, sealing your servants. Even as we were sealed in baptism and marked with the sign of your cross, we know that all those who have fallen asleep in faith are of that blessed number: 144,000, sealed from all the tribes of the Israel of God. Not that we count children of the flesh as the children of God, but the children of the promise as being counted as Abraham’s offspring. Even so, we thank you for the promise spoken over the lives of Polly Webb, Ruby Heilig, Judy Bernhardt, Lola Floss, Carrie Reavis, Linda Lyerly, Louise Cornelison, Chuck Hess, and Haynes Shirley. As we remember them today, bless this church and their families. And bless the souls and spirits of all who mourn or suffer among us today, that you be glorified in both the living and the dead. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Give us such hands and hearts that may wield the sword of the Spirit faithfully. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. So we ask you to give us a strong desire to hear your Word, that same living and active, sharp, two-edged sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, that we may pray properly at all times in the Spirit. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We know that when you appear, Jesus, we shall be like you because we will see you as you are. Exactly what we will become has not yet appeared, but we have the hope of your promise nonetheless. Purify us through our hope in you, even as you are pure. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Keep us focused on the blessings we find in your Word. Make us ever mindful of you instead of our opinions and feelings. May we come to know you more and more through the objective truth of the Word of God. And may we count this the greatest beatitude: that of knowing you, and being know by you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
Though we livestream our services, we invite you to join us for an in-person service if you live in the area or are passing though. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions — all in a friendly, multigenerational environment. Holy Communion is celebrated each Sunday.
Please notice that we welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon, Pastor Ryman has a chat with the children. You're going to love this part of the service.
