Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
There is nothing new under the sun, Father. Countries are always at war. Amos prophesied about Israel’s enemies attacking. And in our time, Israel is again under attack. Throughout the history of our country, there have been wars and rumors of wars. Therefore, our military stands ready to defend our borders, as well as the peace of other nations. We thank you, Lord, for all those who have served, who have fought for the freedom of others, or who have defended our own. We are particularly blessed by the veterans of St. Paul’s and ask your special blessing upon them today. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We are poor in spirit and in need of your righteousness. You said there are blessings for such people, Lord. You promised your kingdom to the poor in spirit and so, have given us heaven. You promised to satisfy our hunger and thirst for righteousness, and therefore, have imputed your own righteousness to us. In our poverty, continue to deliver us, that we may always proclaim, “My God, how great thou art.” Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We do not know when you are returning, Lord Jesus. So many have been sleeping for so long. And we have been waiting and waiting for the fulness of redemption and to see you face to face. Keep us in faith so that, on whatever day the command comes and trumpet sounds, we are ready to share in your final victory. Our hope is built on nothing less than you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Fill our vision, Holy Spirit, with the assurance of the Bridegroom’s imminent return. Fill our lamps with faith so that we may see you when you come again. And give such hope of glory to all who suffer or mourn among us, that even in the affliction of body and soul they may be watchful with us. For we know neither the day nor the hour, but we do know who draws near for us. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
Though we livestream our services, we invite you to join us for an in-person service if you live in the area or are passing though. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions — all in a friendly, multigenerational environment. Holy Communion is celebrated each Sunday.
Please notice that we welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon, Pastor Ryman has a chat with the children. You're going to love this part of the service.
