Grant us confidence in your promises, Lord. Give us the abiding trust of Abraham so that when our faith is tested, we may rely wholly upon you instead of on our reason or works. And we know that we may depend on you for you are a gracious and merciful God who provides the Lamb of God, the Lamb who is God, taking away the sin of the world. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
When our souls are bent toward despair, help us, Holy Spirit, God of our salvation, to lift them to you. Give us hopeful faith that we may entrust our cares to you. We especially ask this for all those whose souls are heavy this morning: Tammy and the family of Donald Eidson, Gina and all of Laney Lou Eaton’s family, Andrea and all of Carolyn Cress’ family. Christ, have mercy and grant them peace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. Yet we also profess that you identified yourself with us, submitting to John’s baptism of repentance, that you are the author and have become the finisher of our faith, that you made yourself responsible for the righteousness of the unrighteous, for sinners like us. Give us then, such faith as apprehends your word of truth and obeys your will. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Touch those, Father, who are weary and suffering in any way. Ease their troubles by reminding them of their baptisms, and so, of your great love for them. Remind them, Holy Spirit, that you are with them in their distress. And finally, help them and all of us to repent daily and believe the gospel of the kingdom until the end of our days on earth. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
Though we livestream our services, we invite you to join us for an in-person service if you live in the area or are passing though. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions — all in a friendly, multigenerational environment. Holy Communion is celebrated each Sunday.
We welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon, our children take up a spare change offering for mission. Then they join Pastor Ryman on the chancel steps for a chat about today's Scripture. We think you will love this part of the service.
