Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
Deliver us, Lord, from a spirit of fear. Give us the faith of widows that we may do as you direct and trust you for the outcome according to your word and will. Nourish us and refresh us by that same word of promise so that we may know our life and faith are not by might, nor by power, but by your Spirit. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We know that we should fear, love, and trust in you above all things but our anxiety still gets the better of us — particularly at election time or whenever we vote on issues. By your grace, exercise in us the absolute trust of the widows in today’s readings so that we may learn that your steadfast loves never ceases, your mercies never find the end, and that your promises are new every morning. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Pardon and liberty do not come to us through our sacrifice, devotion, work, offerings, or by anything but your blood alone. In you only is forgiveness of sin and plenteous redemption. Give us eager anticipation of your second appearance, that glorious Day at the end of the age when you will fulfill your plan of salvation for those who await you. We especially ask for this for those who are homebound and hospitalized, that they may share in the joy of the knowledge of you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
May our left hand not know what the right hand gives. Shorten our robes and diminish our tassels so that our attention is upon you, Father, not upon ourselves. Grant your church humble and faithful hearts so that we might be pleasing to you always. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Visitor Info
Though we livestream our services, we invite you to join us for an in-person service if you live in the area or are passing through. St. Paul's features traditional worship and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions — all in a friendly, multigenerational environment. Holy Communion is celebrated each Sunday.
We welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon, our children take up a spare change offering for mission. Then they join one of our pastors on the chancel steps for a chat about today's Scripture. We think you will love this part of the service.
