Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
Some days are better than others, Lord; in fact, some days are just terrible — and terrifying. Nonetheless, we will praise you as long as we live. Help us to not be distressed with what befalls us, nor be angry at those we might blame for our fix. Instead, help us believe that you mean it for the good, for indeed, we know that in all things you work for the good of those who love you, who have been called according to your purpose. Help us remember this promise and act accordingly. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
As you redeemed Joseph from the pit, so you redeemed Daniel, and Jesus, and Peter, and frankly, us. For we believe in the resurrection of the dead, that you will deliver us from the grave on that great Day in the final resurrection. Enable us to already walk with you in this newness of life. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
In the midst of life, we are beset with death. We are not spared from this at St. Paul’s. So, Lord God, we ask that you would be with the families of Andrea Lyerly and Barbara Whisnant. Give them your grace so that they may live with courage and peace. And for all those among us who are mourning, sick, recovering, or afflicted in any way, give them the same grace and peace that Jesus promises to all who believe on him. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Finally, Lord, help us to love our enemies. We need the assistance of your Holy Spirit, for this is not a task we can accomplish in our old nature. Help us to turn the other cheek and to pray for those who insist on being at odds with us. As we wish that others would do to us, help us do so to them. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Visitor Info
We would love for you to worship with us in-person if you live in the area or are passing through. For those outside our locale, we do livestream our services into this page, as well as to YouTube and Facebook.
At St. Paul's you may expect traditional worship of liturgy and Holy Communion each Sunday with a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions — all in a friendly, multigenerational environment.
We welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon, our children take up a spare change offering for mission. Then they join one of our pastors on the chancel steps for a chat about today's Scripture. We think you will love this part of the service.
