Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.

Help us, Lord God, to live according to your commandments, particularly the new commandment given by your Son, to love one another as he has loved us. Guide us in living by the Word of Truth that calls us to faith in you, and so, to loving each other because of the hope we have in the gospel. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Be gracious to us, Father, for we have sinned against you and our neighbor. There are those who whisper against us; indeed, there are those we whisper about, imagining that they might be paid back with anything but good. Forgive us for our meanness and pettiness, and give us larger spirits. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

You have delivered us from the realm of darkness, and met in us your requirement for sharing in the inheritance of your holy ones in light. Remind us, Father, that you have assigned a place in your kingdom to those who believe on your beloved Son. We have the confident hope of glory because of Jesus. We, Holy Spirit, that you would encourage our hope in Jesus throughout this week, especially reminding those who are suffering and mourning among us, particularly our homebound, and the family of Linda Beaver, that they may be strengthened with all power, according to Christ’s glorious might. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we know we should love you with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our strength and with all our mind, and that we should also love our neighbor as ourselves. We do not seek to justify ourselves; we know we have fallen short in various ways. Forgive us and strengthen us with power through your Word of Truth and Holy Spirit that like the Good Samaritan, to “go and do likewise.” Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Vespers Tonight

The readings for discussion this evening are Exodus 6:2, 13; 7:1–6; Revelation 15:1–8; Matthew 18:1–14. We begin with fellowship and finger food at 6pm in the parsonage across the street from the church. Evening Prayer begins at 6:30. Come to both for a blessed time.
