Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.
Lord Jesus, there is a freedom we already enjoy this side of eternity. Because of the blood of your covenant with us, we are set free from the stranglehold of sin and death. Because of your saving work on the cross, we are released to a new stronghold, one of hope, not just in this life but especially in the one to come. Give us faith to know that even as you once rode humbly on a colt before your people in Jerusalem, you will one day return with a cry of command to gather us together with you and all the faithful communion into the New, the consummated reality of God’s covenant people — the church — dwelling in your presence on the renewed creation. Give us patience to await this final manifestation of your completed work, Lord Christ. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
All but the most hard-hearted heathen may readily see your works, O God. These are manifest in the creation and the sustaining of the universe. Yet they do to know who you are because they have never heard your Word or have failed to believe it. Help us to never neglect the Word, and thereby fail to perceive you in your everlasting kingdom. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We do delight in your law, Father, and savor the gospel, Lord God. At least our redeemed inner beings delight in your word, but the old, fallen nature still resists. We confess again that our flesh is in bondage to the Old Man. Thanks be to God that you have delivered us through Christ Jesus our Lord. Sustain us with the peace this truth brings us. Uphold all among us who are suffering bodily, or in torment of the soul, or even with languishing spirit. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Join us together with you, Jesus. As you once carried the load of our sin to the cross, bear the loads of your people who are hard-pressed under the accusations of the law. Help us come to you and be coupled with you under the yoke of the gospel, and so, find rest for our souls. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy — through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Teaching
Open or download this week's preview of the lessons. We send this to our homebound with a bulletin each week and thought you might like to have a copy as well. You may read it online or print it out. It includes prayers, brief teaching on each of the four lessons for Sunday, an overview, and an additional Word Search based on the Gospel Lesson.
Visitors Info
If you live in the area or are passing through, please worship with us in-person. We also livestream our services on this page.
Expect traditional worship with liturgy and Holy Communion each Sunday and a message grounded in the Scriptures and guided by the Lutheran Confessions — all in a friendly, multigenerational environment.
We welcome and encourage children to worship with us. Just before the sermon, our children take up a spare change offering for mission. Then they join one of our pastors on the chancel steps for a chat about today's Scriptures. We think you will love this part of the service.
