Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.

Help us to hear you, Lord God. We know that if we would come to you and listen, our souls would find rest and life. So, may we fear and love you so that we do not despise preaching and your Word, but hold it sacred, and gladly hear and learn it. Accomplish your purposes among us at St. Paul’s and in your whole church throughout the world, so that your church would be a witness to you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We give thanks to you, Father, for your steadfast love and mercy toward us that ultimately, sent your Son to redeem and deliver us. We give thanks to you, Christ Jesus, for destroying death forever, and for not leaving us alone but sending us your indwelling Spirit. We give thanks to you, Holy Spirit, for reminding us of Christ’s precious words and promises. We give thanks to you, great God of heaven and earth, for your steadfast love endures forever. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Our conscience bears witness in you, O Spirit of Christ, that we are children of the covenant — the new covenant in Christ’s blood, the same Christ who is God over all, blessed forever. Through him, we are children of Abraham through faith, and as such, children of the promise. May we always discern in our deepest hearts and minds that our election comes through faith in your grace, not in our works and religious devotion. In this knowledge, may we learn to trust in your faithful mercies. We ask also that you would give those among us who are suffering in any way — in body, soul, or spirit — this same trust in your loving mercy for them. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord Jesus, we have come today to be filled with your goodness. Help us all eat and be satisfied. If there is anyone present in this sanctuary or watching from home who has not yet heard that you supply the needs of your people in abundance, help them hear at your table that you give us all our daily bread: the support for the needs of the body, such as food, drink, clothing, shoes, house, home, land, animals, money, goods, a devout spouse and children, devout employees, and faithful rulers, good government, good weather, peace, health, self-control, good reputation, good friends, faithful neighbors, and the like. And as we come to this blessed supper, may we know even more, that you give us this day the forgiveness of sins. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
