Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.

Eternal God, you are the rock from which we were hewn and the foundation of our hope. Mercifully look upon your people who pursue your righteousness, and transform our waste places into gardens of joy and gladness. Anchor our hearts in your everlasting salvation and unshakeable righteousness so that when the earth wears out like a garment and the heavens vanish like smoke, we are secured in you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We give you thanks with our whole heart, Father, and sing your praise. You regard the lowly, answer us when we call, and increase the strength of our souls. Fulfill your purpose for us, preserve us in the midst of trouble, and stretch out your right hand to deliver us — even as you hold us close with the left. Do not forsake the work of your hands, but perfect your glory in our lives, for we are undone without you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord Jesus, your judgments are unsearchable and your ways past our finding out. Yet, we know that your ways are right and for our good. Even so, though her passing from us was sudden and unexpected, we give you thanks for the 93 years you gave us to share the life of Nancy Powell. Magnify her years of service and give her that hallowed rest of the blessed dead. May she rest now in you, as her deeds follow after her among us and to you. 

By your mercy, grant us all the grace to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to you. Renew our minds so that we are not conformed to this world, but instead, transformed, able to discern your will. Help us to use the diverse gifts assigned to us in the measure of faith, so that we may obey your will, serving as one body in Christ. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ declared Peter’s confession to be the bedrock foundation upon which he builds his Church: grant us grace to boldly confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Protect and preserve your Church so that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Empower us, Holy Spirit, through the recollection of Christ’s teachings to believe and rightly confess, to hear your Word and gladly keep it. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
