Leviticus 1–4 deals with different kinds of offerings — what to offer and for what purpose. The bottom line though, is one way or another, God makes a way to dwell among his people. From Adam until Christ, this way was a system of animal sacrifice. Though other offerings such as grain and oil and wine were made, the offering for guilt and sin was an animal.
In Christ, we no longer make blood sacrifices for sin. Christ Jesus is the final offering, one made by God himself, of God himself. His is a once for all offering that takes away the sin of the world (Hebrews 10:1-18). This forgiveness is not received by making offerings but through faith and the means of grace, Holy Communion.
