Leviticus 22–23
Scripture Text: Leviticus 22:1–23:44
Series: Read the Bible in a Year
God's priests are set apart by their clothing, the food they eat, their rituals and responsibilities. Today, all Christians — not a select few — are a royal priesthood, set apart from unbelievers by their faith in Jesus Christ. More than that, he calls us out of the darkness of sin, removing our transgressions from us "as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12).
The second chapter in today's reading deals with festivals or holy gatherings of God's people when God blessed his people with special rest, a time for remembering their history with him. In the church, we also have a calendar of worship that includes feast days or festivals, days of rest and remembrance of how the Father has blessed us in the Son and given us his own Spirit. Though there are still special, appointed days and seasons like Advent, Easter, and Pentecost, any time two or more believers are together in Jesus' name, he is present with them and will bless them.
