Exodus 36–38
Scripture Text: Exodus 36:1–38:31
Series: Read the Bible in a Year
The craftsmen require materials to do their work on the tabernacle, so the people bring such an abundance of freewill offerings that they are told to stop making offerings. The work begins on the tabernacle: weaving, carving, work in metal and other materials. Mentioned in our reading today are curtains, the framework to hang them from, the ark, the mercy seat, the table for the bread of the Presence, a lampstand with seven ornamental cups for flames, the altar of incense, the altar for the burnt offerings, and the bronze basins.
The craftsmen use the materials provided by the people, and do as God instructed and Moses taught. Then Moses blesses them.
