A Pretty, Sinless Savior
Comments on Galatians with an ear to Luther’s commentary
Scripture Text: Galatians 3:13 and John 6:28–29
Series: Comments on Galatians
Human love does not create faith. Quite the opposite, it is faith that creates any real love. If we must first love in order to have saving faith, we are lost. The work of love rightly follows faith in Christ and his work on the cross. There he died, loaded down with our sin. If it were a matter of us loving, of boasting in our works of love and piety, then what use is Christ? If Christ must be a pretty, sinless Savior, then our sins are cast back on us. We should want nothing to do with this false, Roman faith.
