• Ephesians 5:22–33

• ...for believers, marriage is pure because it has been sanctified by the Word of God. It is a matter that is permitted and approved by the Word of God, as Scripture abundantly testifies. Christ calls marriage a divine union when he says, “What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate” (Matthew 19:6). Paul says of marriage, as he does of meats and other things, that “it is made holy by the word of God and prayer” (1 Timothy 4:5), that is, “by the Word” by which consciences become certain that God approves, and “by prayer,” that is, by faith, which uses it with thanksgiving as a gift of God. [The Defense of the Augsburg Confession, The Marriage of Priests]

• Hymn: “Christ, Whose Glory Fills the Skies,” Charles Wesley Tune

Christ, whose glory fills the skies,
Christ, the true and only Light,
Sun of righteousness, arise,
triumph o’er the shade of night;
Dayspring from on high, be near;
Daystar, in my heart appear.

Dark and cheerless is the morn
unaccompanied by Thee;
joyless is the day’s return,
till Thy mercy’s beams I see,
till they inward light impart,
glad my eyes, and warm my heart.

Visit then this soul of mine,
pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
fill me, radiancy divine,
scatter all my unbelief;
more and more thyself display,
shining to the perfect day.

• Benediction: May the Spirit of Christ pierce any gloom of sin, grief, and doubt, and fill you with the radiant glory of his peace. Amen.

• Memory Verse: ... so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 1:7–8)

• Memory Verse Aid: ...STYANLIAG, AYWFTROOLJC, WWSYTTE, GITDOOLJC. (1C 1:7-8)
