Do not be too quick to think that the great works of the Spirit in your life will be along the lines of ministry or some other showy activity. The Spirit of God will, from time to time, work through you a witness, healing, inspired word, charity, or other spiritual gift. Luther said, spiritual life in Christ will begin in the heart and it will be manifested outwardly. However, the greatest work of the Spirit in and through you will be far humbler — from a human perspective. The truest spiritual act will be displayed on the interior where no one else but you will be able to see God at work. It may be that most Christians never take notice of this amazing feat of the Spirit. The daily and wondrous demonstration of God at work in you is that you continue in faith. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit within you that you remain faithful through all the days when nothing seems to be happening in the exterior life — especially when it feels like God is not there in the interior life. Ironically, this is when God is most powerful in your life.
