Comments on Galatians with an ear to Luther’s commentary

Scripture Text: Galatians 3:6 and 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Series: Comments on Galatians

Today's Scripture Jigsaw

Faith may be a “weak” thing, as Luther writes, but in agreement with the Apostle Paul, he continues, saying that our tiny faith means so much to God that he makes us righteous, forgives our sins, and removes all wrath and punishment. He does all this with our wee faith because he wants his grace to be sufficient in our human weakness. He wants us to depend upon him, not upon ourselves. He would be our strength, our righteousness, and our deliverance from sin and death. He is just and right to do all this for Christ’s sake, not because we have been particularly religious or great at avoiding sin. He does these great things for us simply because we have a little faith, yet faith is Jesus. And when we have this weak but certain confidence in Christ Jesus, this dependence upon God, then we are strong in his grace, perfected in his power.
