It makes no difference whether it be pope, priest, pastor, or layman. If one holds that any other work than the cross of Jesus Christ and faith in his saving sacrifice accounts for forgiveness of sins and eternal life, that person is Antichrist. It seems especially heinous that any kind of pastor would teach good works must be added to the cross of Christ. Good works will assuredly follow faith but they do not and cannot merit salvation. This deifies the one who believes their works are also necessary, an abomination that is particularly evil. When a pastor would so depose his creator, that pastor is nothing less than the abomination standing in the holy place. Flee from these teachers.
