The Key
Comments on Galatians with an ear to Luther’s commentary
Scripture Text: Galatians 3:1 and Revelation 3:7-13
Series: Comments on Galatians
Paul has spent great effort and no little prayer over the Galatians. They came to faith because of his missionary efforts. As too often happens, once the one who did all of the ground-breaking work leaves, someone else takes advantage of the earlier labor. It is common enough for someone to come into a church and tell them something they must do or must not do or else they are not real Christians. It is nearly as common to see those believers abandon grace because of a fear of damnation. How odd. How ironic. Christ’s grace is the key to salvation, yet it is thrown away, the result being that one is locked away for later judgment. This is foolish indeed, as well as hurtful to the one who proclaimed God’s grace in the beginning of a church’s life.
